Questions about my first movie

My first movie calls for some things I'm not sure how to make work.

One thing is that I have to make a mop float around. What is the easiest and most effective way to do this? I heard use green screen and with dowel rods to move the mop.

I have a chemical reaction gone wrong in my movie where a fog spreads into the room. Now the place where I'm using it is a school, so what would I use for this that would be safe and wouldn't cause a mess?

Also, my actor needs to look older. He's in his late teens but he needs to look at least past his thirties...any way to do this? (he has a beard so that helps)

dry ice in a steel drum pour water on it and it makes great fog

for the mop i do not know, but the green screen sounds like it would work

Another option would be to use wires to move the mop around and do wire removal in post. If the camera is locked off you can probably record a clean shot of the same background and simply matte them out, if the camera is moving then you'll need to do proper wire-removal.
