Question about split screening

So I'm making a short film where I have my actor in two places on the frame at the same time. The problem that I'm running into is not how to split the screen in half, but how to feather the edge of the crop that I'm making.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro. I was wondering if there was an add-on or something that would allow me to feather the edge of a specific crop. The included 'edge-feather' effect only works with feathering the edges of the entire picture.
