It seems to me like you could just read your narration into a microphone and save it as a .WAV or whichever format you want and then import it as an audio track...
If there are certain spots in your video you want to have onscreen at a certain point in the narration, it might be a good idea to lay down that audio track first and assemble the video second so you can be sure that what you want onscreen appears when you want it to....
