How to Get Started with DaVinci Resolve for Editing
1. Download Resolve from
Resolve can be quite resource intensive at times, so newer computers may work better than older ones.
2. Visit the DaVinci Resolve Training page to get started:
3. Start with the four training videos at the top of the Training page: Intro to Editing, pt. 1 and 2, multicam editing, and visual effects in the edit page. You can download the videos and sample projects, so that you can follow along.
4. Send an e-mail message to training@blackmagicdesign.com, and ask to be added to the training webinar e-mail list. The webinar schedule through March of this year is included at the end of this post. The live webinars are excellent and follow the material presented in the Training Books (further down the Resolve Training page mentioned above). The webinars are free and you can take a free certification exam based on each book/webinar if you'd like. The webinars are offered 3 or 4 times a year.
5. If you're new to editing, in general, you might want to check out the training book "The Beginner's Guide to DaVinci Resolve 18" further down the page, or attend the corresponding webinar. This book and webinar are also a good introduction to Resolve for anyone who is new to Resolve. This course/book provides foundational info, on which the other books/courses build.
6. The Editor's Guide is a good "next step" after completing the beginner's course/book.
7. The remaining books/webinars/courses are good for learning more about the other aspects of Resolve.
