I am going to buy a canon xh a1 just like every other new filmmaker in the entire world.... the thing is, I don't know if this is a good deal or not. I was hoping to get a second opinion from people in the same position as me.

This is the deal:

Canon XH A1 1.67MP 3CCD High-Definition Camcorder
8 Hour Pro Lithium Rechargeable Battery
Three Piece Filter Kit
Wide Angle Converter Lens
2x Telephoto Lens
Deluxe Lens Care and Maintenance Package
Deluxe Camcorder Case
20-Pack MiniDV Cassettes
MiniDV Head Cleaner
MiniDV Rewinder
Full Size Tripod
Screen LCD Protectors
Wireless Microphone System
Professional Video Light w/Bulb Replacements
Introduction to Your Camcorder on DVD
Fire Wire Cable
Aluminum Hard Case

for $2,199.00.

Now, the thing is, it doesn't give me any other information on the other stuff besides the camera, so I don't know if I'd be buying a bunch of junk or not. Its all brand new and everything, I just don't know any of the details.

Is it worth it anyway?

Where is this deal? If it's online I highly suggest you look up reviews of the websites and do some research as to the legitamacy of the website. There are a lot of sites that sell cameras at a seemingly huge discount, but they strip all the accessories out of the package, even the hand strap sometimes!

Since you listed a lot of accessories, I'm assuming this is either a deal at a video or maybe something like an ebay listing? If it's something like ebay, ask questions about the lens like if it's got scratches, mold, mildew, dust, etc on/in it and try and get an idea for the overall shape of the camera. If you have the option, ask for close up pictures of the lens or even better, take a look at the camera in person before buying it.

You can certainly get good deals on cameras out there- I was able to get mine on ebay for a great price from a Pro selling his spare. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thanks! I checked out the site, and its definitely not rated well... I think I might go with my second choice anyway- I can get a 2-year-old DVX100a for around $1900... No HD, but that's not really that important to me at this point anyway. This is just from a person who doesn't use it anymore, so I can actually go check it out. Thanks again!
