How do I get my film showed at a film festival

Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca? Any of the other big ones? What exactly has to happen for my movie to wind up being shown in one of these festivals? And how much will it cost me?

You need to submit it to them, and there's usually a fee.
You can use https://withoutabox.com/ to submit to a variety of festivals.

Then some judges will have to decide if your film is good enough to even be part of their festival.

Sundance, Cannes and Tribeca get literally thousands of submissions each year...

Thanx, man. I've been on this site almost 2 months and today is the FIRST TIME anyone has responded to one of my threads!....I didn't realize the comp to get into one of the bigger festivals was so vast.
