If shooting on HD that films at 30p, in post, how does this affect the audio if the visuals are changed into a 24p? If it is affected, is it affected in post or are there adjustments that must be made during filming to anticipate changing it over to 24p in post?

What is Sony HDCam Format? How would you get there from shooting in the above mentioned HD camera that shoots at 30p?

Thank you for all your help.

Whatever you do, DON'T use 30P for anything that needs to be converted to 24P, 24fps film, 25P, 50i PAL video, etc. !!!

Only use 30P for material to be screened either at 30P progressive-scan (like for a web broadcast) or converted to 60i (480i NTSC or 1080i HDTV.) Or where you can playback 30P as 24P with a slight slow-motion affect as a result.

It's very hard to convert 30 motion samples smoothly into 24 or 25. 30P is the least convertible of all the common capture modes to other speeds. 24P and 25P are more universal. Even 60i is better than 30P in terms of converting to 24P.

But if you can't shoot 24P, then 25P is the next best thing. If not 25P, then 50i. If not 50i, then 60i. 30P is to be avoided except for 30P/60i applications.
