You need to tell us what monitor you want to go out to and if you are talking HDV or uncompressed HD. If its HDV, yes you need to use an HD Link and no its not 2500.00 its 695.00
I'm not completely sure, but I think some sort of DVI interface is needed to get the HD signal to an external monitor. So yeah, you'll probably need something like the Kona.
