Everyone wants that crisp, clean shoot, but when under unusual circumstances, there are many options. Few of the options available might be right for the production you are doing. Das Boot was filmed using one. The submarine shots could not be done with a steadicam due to very tight working conditions, but the Kenyon took the situation and made it work.
