Hey, im planning on making a short 6-8minutes film about a supernatural teenage boy of about 15 years called Jim.
The day Jim was born, doctors noticed that his brainwaves were much different than a normal person but they did not find anything wrong with Jim, everythingwent fine, he was healthy, could see talk .... And he grew up and nothing unusual happens with him, he just grew like a normal boy. One day, when he's 15 years old, he spots a femiliar face in the distance and gets very frightend when the other person also spots him. He starts running away from him but at certain point he endsup in a dead end street and the other person pulls out his gun and shoots Jim. As a reflex Jim puts his hand infront and a few moments later he notices that the bullet has just stopped infront of his hand. When he pulls down his hand the bullet directly went in the opposite direction right into the stranger. Shocked by this Jim goes to an old friend and asks him what is wrong with him. The friend explains that he does not know how and why he got this ability but he does know that there are people that want that everyone in this world is equil and that no one has more power than the other. He tells Jim that its best to stay low profile but Jim gets discovered and from here he has got to fight his way threw.
In reality too im 15 so my options aren't that wide. I cant make a too complicated movie because that will ask money and that is what i dont have :p What i do have is Adobe after effects, Adobe premier pro, 3d studio max, Autodest maya, Fx lab pro and adobe photoshop. So i decided to makethe best out of it and try out as many special effects as possible. So is it ok ?

i think the story line is a bit like many films that involve super powers are out there that means that it does obviously work

however maybes it is a bit stereotypical and the hort films i have see are more so to do with people's life or life problems than this

if you feel comfortable doing it and have resources to produce it go ahead everyone starts somewhere however i owuld maybes suggest you keep this idea and maybe try turning it into a script for a full length feature film

do what you're passionate about

do what you're passionate about

My first reaction is to say that it's a good place to start because you've got to start somewhere. As far as the story itself, it's not my taste. However, what's important is that it should be something that you are the most passionate about. It also depends on how fast you need to finish your short film, and the core of what you want to showcase. Do you want to showcase that you can make professional looking effects? And therefore, the story is not that important, as long as it makes people laugh and go, "wow," or "hmmm," (like the song).
