I'll be shooting a scene in a dark, grimy basement and I want my subject to be lit as if there was a flickering light bulb above him. What would be the most effective way to accomplish this?
Alternatively if you play around with the shutter speed in camera, different lights will appear to flicker in different ways, as most 'practicals' (non-constant film lights, eg. 99% of lights you encounter day to day) aren't constant and so will flicker dependant on the refresh rate and shutter angle/framerate of the camera
Usually its an affect your trying to avoid and counter, but if its what your looking for try it out!
