On behalf of the LUMS Media Arts Society, we would like to invite your institution for the 12th annual LUMS International Film Festival – FiLUMS’17, scheduled to be held on November 17[SIZE=-1][SUP]th[/SUP][/SIZE] - 19[SIZE=-1][SUP]th [/SUP][/SIZE]2017.
Founded in 2005, FiLUMS has the honor of being one of the largest student-run film festivals in the country. The 3-day Festival offers exciting opportunities for filmmakers to display their creative prowess and familiarize themselves with the myriad facets of film making, whilst acquainting themselves with fellow film enthusiasts. It serves as a platform where students can exchange exciting ideas, which can be instrumental in informing and influencing the ongoing discourse on Pakistani Cinema. Furthermore, the event also boasts an interesting line-up of workshops that are conducted by some of the country’s leading professionals in the film industry.
Over 250 international and 500 national entries were registered for FiLUMS in 2016. The event itself has brought to its red carpet, cinematic masterpieces such as ‘Children of the Taliban’, ‘Made in Pakistan’, ‘Kashf’, ‘Zindah Lash’ and many more. The winner of the Best Film Award at the NYC Film Festival, ‘Seedlings’ – was first screened right here at FiLUMS, to a jam-packed audience.
Building on its former legacy, the twelve year running Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, with categories including Feature length film, Short film, Documentary, Animation, Music Video and the newly introduced Youth Category, for aspiring filmmakers who are 18 or younger. Teams may also opt to participate in the on campus ad making competition. We would be deeply honored to host teams from your institution and hope that with your help we can rejuvenate the Pakistani film industry.
Deadline has been extended to 31st October and we anxiously await your response regarding your interest in the Festival this year. We look forward to welcoming you at FiLUMS’17!
