Audition Tips: How to Get the Right Actors for Your Films
by Peter John Ross

I wasn't able to make NAB this year, would love a hard copy. I saw the newsletter and showed it to my students here.

Thanks for the chance to contribute.

NAB was good but for me it was mostly about the people this year. Over the last ten years I have attended I have lost some friends and advertisers who passed away. I miss them and wish I could have told them thank you and how much we all appreciated them. There will always be a new technology but technology does not create passion and imagination. That is something that is inside us. Furthermore, Technology won't teach us the language of light, camera movement, color and all the things that we use to paint our motion picture with. Of course there were a lot of neat things at NAB one could use in the phases of filmmaking. The new larger drones looked cool but I think you have to have a pilots lic to fly them. New things got faster, slower, lighter and heavier. More features on cameras and more foreign manufacturers making products for the lower budgets of the indie filmmakers. My competitors were there and people that don't like me. God bless them. And, actually, in some way I enjoyed seeing them too. I love the story telling business for all it's glory with all the good, bad and the ugliness. I am looking forward to cinegear this year. I think I am going to get straw hat to wear this year like my friend Wayne does.
