Young people from Commonwealth Countries are invited to enter the 2011 Commonwealth Vision (film) Awards, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society in London.

Theme 2011
This year’s Commonwealth theme is ‘Women as Agents of Change’ - we want entrants to think about the opportunities and barriers faced by women around the world and the roles they play in their family, community and nation.
Prizes
Top prizes include monetary awards, film equipment, internships and submission to prestigious film festivals around the Commonwealth. In 2010, a selection of the filmmakers behind the judges’ favourite entries were flown to London for workshops led by professional filmmakers, and to receive their prizes from the award winning filmmaker, Gurinder Chadha. Details of this year’s top prize will be revealed at the end of June.
In 2010, the top prizes went to filmmakers from South Africa, Cameroon, Malaysia, Kenya, Canada and the United Kingdom. Take a look at their winning entries here: www.thercs.org/youth/visionfinalists. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards are given to entrants in both the under-18 and 18-30 categories
Who can take part?
Entrants must be under 30 and from or resident in a Commonwealth country. Whether you shoot on 35mm or Mini DV - we want to see your film. Further information can be found here: www.thercs.org/youth/visionawardstakingpart.
How to enter Make a film connected to the theme ‘Women as Agents of Change’ of up to 4 minutes long and submit it online by 1st August. www.rcsregister.org/public/index/index.
Alternatively, you can post the film on YouTube (or a similar site), and email the link together with a completed entry form to [email protected]. Postal entries can also be made by printing and completing the application form and sending it together with your entry, to the appropriate address. Applicants from rich and poor, large and small countries alike, submit story-board ideas in either written, picture or short film format, on a topic linked to the Commonwealth theme.
