Do you still get paid if your music isn't used?

Hello all, I was just wondering, do composers generally get paid still even if the filmmakers decide to use a different composer after the original composer has already written some music for the film? How does that generally work?

yes they get paid

yes they get paid

at least they do on the larger features. i think you can work out any kind of deal you want with anyone but from your side i would not do any work you don't get paid for even if they don't use it.
