Colored Lights ? (see pic)

I'm working on a movie and trying to create an image similar to the one below

Someone told me that there is a black board behind the man and that the colored lights are simply very bright. Is that correct or is it a red backdrop?

Any help would be appreciated

that can be color corrected in photoshop

It seem´s to be just a red background.
And side-light on the character.
There´s a red fill from the light bouncing on the red background.
As I see it...
