Call for Entries: International Documentary Film Festival

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN for the 18th United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) which runs from October 15-25, 2015 in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco and Stanford University. UNAFF celebrates the power of international documentary films dealing with human
rights, the environment, protection of refugees, famine, homelessness, racism, disease control, women's issues, children, universal education, war and peace.

In 2000 all UN member states and at least 23 international organizations committed to help achieve these Millennium Development Goals by 2015: to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality and empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability and foster a global
partnership for development.

This year’s theme RUNNING OUT OF TIME continues the ongoing celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and focuses on time-sensitive aspects of the Millennium Development Goals.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
• Documentaries only
• No production year limit
• No runtime limit – UNAFF accepts both shorts and longs
• Rough-cuts or works-in-progress accepted but please submit as close to the final cut as possible. UNAFF cannot accept updated versions of a film less than 10 days before the start of the festival
• Preferred submission format: DVD (NTSC/PAL) or Blu-Ray region 0 or 1
• Alternate submission format: Password-protected online screener with an expiration date extending through July 31

ENTRY FEES:
• $25 for films up to 30 minutes (late deadline $35)
• $35 for films longer than 30 minutes (late deadline is $45)

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:
• Early Deadline – May 5, 2015*
• Regular Deadline – May 15, 2015*

• UNAFF Youth Vision Award $500

UNAFF provides filmmakers with pass credentials, guest festival passes and some assistance with lodging and airfare. In addition to screenings, UNAFF provides filmmakers the opportunity to present their work through panel discussions and Q&As and to meet distributors and leaders of community organizations.
