Blurring Out Sections Of Video

Hope someone can help me.

I'm using Prem Pro 2 and I want to be able to blurr out certain sections of video - the way TV does when they hide someones face -for security or privacy purposes.

Anyone know how to do this so that the blur follows the person through the clip?

Thanks

I would use Adobe After Effects to do this. You would create a blur layer and then do a motion track of the clip.

You define an area that you want to blur, if it moves, AE will recognise the movement and create a 'motion track', which is in effect, a guide line.

You apply the properties of the motion track to the blur layer and it will follow the persons face in the clip.

Hope this helps.

Do a search for Motion Track in AE for find out more.

Typically you would layer a copy of the clip on the track above...on top of itself. You can blur the top layer and use a garbage matte to confined the blurred area to just where you want it.

If you want soft edges, you could do the same thing with the layers, but you would have to create a tracking matte in PPro. As already mentioned, if this is a short clip, After Effect's matte capabilities would give you more options...
