I'm working on a film that I'm giving a 1920s flair to. I was wondering if anyone could point me to some photos of how the old title cards looked. You know, the kind that said what was being said in the silent films. I know The Little Rascals have some, but the library is closed! And I'm not sure that DVD would be checked out or not.

Or does anyone know what font they used? Or if it was white card with black font or was it black card with white text. I can't remember.

Thank you sooooo much in advance.

Many title cards were replaced in the process of restoring old damaged movies, so sometimes you can't tell a new one from an old one, except by the quality. Here are two from some Buster Keaton movies, one a main title card:

But some title cards had borders, different fonts, copyright info at the bottom, or the name of the studio, etc. Usually white letters on black unless it was a tinted and toned movie.

thank you!
