📌Real Name Policy (2026)

Starting in 2026, Student Filmmakers Forums requires all members to use their real first and last name when registering and posting.

This rule helps keep conversations clear, respectful, and useful for everyone.

Why This Matters

Using real names helps:
  • People feel more comfortable asking real questions
  • Conversations stay focused instead of turning into arguments
  • Professionals know they are helping real people, not fake accounts
  • Volunteers feel their time is being respected
When people hide behind fake names, discussions can easily get disrupted. That makes it harder for students to learn and for experienced filmmakers to help.

Who This Helps

  • Students: You can ask questions without worrying about being mocked or talked over
  • Beginners: It’s easier to get honest, thoughtful answers
  • Professionals: They’re more likely to share advice when conversations stay respectful
Real names help everyone treat each other like people, not usernames.

What’s Required

  • Use your real first and last name
  • No nicknames, handles, or fake names
  • You do not need to be famous or professional
If a name does not appear to be a real name, a moderator may ask that it be updated before posting continues.

For Members Who Joined Before 2026

If you joined before 2026, you are still welcome here.

Before making new posts, please update your profile to show your real first and last name.

If you need help changing your name, a moderator can assist you.

Supporting Filmmakers, Video Makers and Creators of all Levels

This policy exists to support better conversations and real learning.

When people use real names, it encourages kindness, accountability, and thoughtful help — which is exactly what makes this forum valuable.

Thank you for being part of the Student Filmmakers community.
