Hi!
I was just shooting and I slipped on a patch of ice while wearing my Sekonic 608C meter on my hip. I hit the ground pretty hard - after getting up I quickly examined my meter. Much to my horror I've cracked the neck of the rotating meter globe - it still spins though. The meter still turns...
Are you finished shooting Kevin? I've been waiting for you to post Week 4 :p. It's been enjoyable to see real set photos with descriptions. I just shot a short film where there was way too much to do in the time we had to do it. I'm finding it a real challenge to work fast and create...
I'm writing a paper on the advancement in lighting and certainly wanted to include HMI in there. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to find any substantial info? I know HMI was started by OSRAM in Germany in the late 60's but that's about all.
Thanks
Just a follow up...I downloaded the Pocket Par guide off of Arri's website. It appears what I would need is a DC ballast...as you mentioned Louis..("It has 2 different little ballasts according to the supply you work with."). Sorry it didn't register to me that there are 2 kinds of...
Hi Louis,
Thanks for the reply. I know what i saw for a fact was an Arri Pocket par and I'm pretty sure it was a 125watt model. How would you be able to power such a device off a battery belt? From what I can tell the Arri ballast has only a standard edison plug right?
Thanks again.
Barry
I've seen it been done but didn't get to check out the details of all the connections. How would you power an HMI (125watts) pocket par off a battery belt? I know most battery belts have an XLR connector on it but I'm pretty sure the HMI ballast doesn't have an XLR connector? Is there an...
Thanks,
I decided I think I will go with the 558C...thought about going with the 608C for a bit but realized I probably won't need the zoom feature on the spot meter. That seems to be the only major difference.
Thanks again.
Looking to getting a light meter to use when shooting 16mm motion picture and film and also 35mm stills. Also would use for DV just to check ratios (not for exposure). Its a toss up between the Sekonic 508C or 558C? The 608C is out of my budget.
What do you think would be best?
