i don't know about downconverting, but if you want to change it from 30 to 24 fps, you're going to need a program/plugin like magic bullet.

why do you want to convert to wmv? if you're using a mac, it would make more sense to use a native quicktime format.

this may be a shot in the dark, but it might be because FCP 3 is not universal binary. it is made for macs with power pc processors. I mean, FCP 3 is so old, it was on OS 9.

when you say DV, do you mean MiniDV? if so, go with DigiBeta. typically the cameras are better than anything you're going to use that shoots miniDV. plus the footage is of higher quality
