    Is this a trustworthy website?

This is another interesting site, where the guy who runs it goes around these stores taking photos of the location: http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/ Some of them certainly don't look like places I'd want to buy from :).

    Is this a trustworthy website?

I'm afraid I don't know much about American sites other than 'always check the reviews of the site first'. Hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction for reputable suppliers.

    Is this a trustworthy website?

They don't seem to have very good reviews either, though they haven't had many in the last few months: http://www.resellerratings.com/seller9662.html

    Is this a trustworthy website?

Unfortunately in the camera world that's usually a sign that you should be careful. Resellerratings.com gives them a rating of 0.33/10. http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1805.html

    Canon XL1 or Panasonic AG-DVX100?

'Quality' is difficult to measure, since a lot of it is subjective. Personally I'd go for the DVX100 unless you're going to stick anything other than the standard lens on the XL1: many people I know bought an XL1 'because of the interchangeable lenses' but then never used anything other than the...

HD ----- CMOS vs CCD & Progressive Vs Interlaced video

Well, I suspect that CCDs are going to be replaced in general with CMOS chips over the next few years. The V1 images I've seen look pretty good, from what I understand (and I may be wrong) the resolution is lower than the Z1, the contrast handling is better and it's not as good in low light. So...

deciding on a camera... but which way to go?

Agreed: typically you'll either have to send a DVD, Digibeta tape or HDCAM tape, so that's not really an issue. At least if you shoot HDV you'll have an HD master for the future if you need it.

Sony Z1P vs PD170 - capture with Canopus edit with Premiere

Use the Z1. Even if you don't use the HD footage you can just tell the camera to downconvert for DV output, and you'll get an HD master tape you can go back to one day plus a true 16:9 image. However, you will get a better picture by editing as HD and then downconverting to SD in post than you...

should i use a low-budget steadicam or my cam stabilizer?

You won't get a steadicam look without something like a steadicam. Even just attaching a folded tripod to the camera with a weight on the other end and holding it below the camera can help a lot to stabilise it.

Newbie from Hawaii, here just saying Hi

Welcome! The good thing today is that with cheap DV and HDV cameras it's easy to just get hold of one, find a few aspiring actors and go shoot some movies without spending a lot of money. Even if you don't go to film school, you can make movies without it.

    need some advice/help

On the sword front, I was just watching a showreel video which included a scene from 'The Last Samurai', and it appears they used a digital sword for some of those shots: Tom Cruise would move his hand towards a guy and then they composited in a sword which appeared to come out the other guy's back.

    how to distribute

I don't know about India, but from what my friends have told me from distributing their low-budget movies, you should get the biggest advance you can from the distributor and not expect to see a penny more... profit deals are all well and good, but 'Forrest Gump' never made a profit according to...

    "Saving Private Ryan" technique

What look are you asking about? I think they used a fast shutter speed on the early scenes to make the motion a bit stuttery, but you won't really be able to add that in post, you'd have to do it while shooting. Edit: yeah, I'm just watching the beach scene again on DVD, and I'm guessing the...

    dual moniters

Because no matter how big your monitor is, there's never enough space on it for editing :).

    Interview Postproduction

No. The only thing wrong is to change their answers to pretend they said something they didn't, or perhaps to remove an important point they wanted to make which goes against your viewpoint... removing unneccesary detail, pauses, etc, and re-ordering answers is normal when editing interview...

    Burn to DVD

If the Quicktime file is correct then it must be a problem with the DVD software. One point to consider is that the gamma curve of the TV is very different to a computer monitor: in my experience things that look dark on the monitor look fine on the TV and things that look fine on the monitor...

Sony’s newest HDV camcorder, the HVR-V1U

BTW, there's a V1 review here: http://www.dvuser.co.uk/content.php?CID=141 It's the first one I've seen so far and seems fairly thorough.

    How do Actors/Actresses get big?

Good luck! As mentioned above, probably the main thing is to get into some movies and get seen: even if you're the only good actor in a bad movie, people will notice if they see it. On the other hand, if it's so bad that no-one will see it, that may be time to find something more useful to do...

    layered Photo ?

I'm not sure quite what you're asking. A large part of that video appears to be composed of multiple layers of stills and video, which are moving relative to each other.

    avid attic

I thought so too. One thing I have just noticed is that after installing 5.5 the Attic files have moved: now instead of being in the same place as the project files (on my E: drive) they're with the Avid program files on the C: drive.
