    Is film school worth it?

Honest Answer-- Which Film School? Some are, some aren't, and some are great but overpriced. My first choice would be this one: https://www.academyart.edu/academics/motion-pictures-television/ It's run by an Oscar Winning friend of mine, https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0578604/, otherwise known as...

    Making a 60's Movie

I know my limitations, and I don't have the visual acuity to make such a judgement, so I leave it to the Director. Then again, I can get my hands on whatever is required. But as an indie filmmaker, it's up to you to temper your choices not only with budgetary concerns, but with a good deal of...

    Making a 60's Movie

Forget using film. You'll blow your budget, or you'll be stuck using shots you're not really satisfied with. Not to mention that editing is ridiculous compared to digital.

    Writing is the foundation

I have a copy of "Inglorius Basterds" I snatched back when he was shopping it around town 10 or 12 years ago.. It's 160 pages, the spelling is terrible and he pays little attention to script formatting rules.

    The Ether Woods

There's no money in shorts. You're going to have to produce it yourself or team up with a Filmmaker who likes your script to get it made.

    1 page = 1 minute script

In the Studio System, in order to time a script the old timers used to take a script and time it as they act it out alone by themselves. If the script says "dance", they dance as long as they think the scene will last. If it says "gunfight", they make a finger gun and run around the room saying...

Secret Life Productions seeks DP for shoot in SoCal desert

Secret Life Productions is accepting bids from Cinematographers on a low budget horror to be shot entirely out in the desert, in a cavern, and inside an RV. Must have Arri or Red Package. Anyone wishing to bid is required to read the script. If interested, PM me. Logline: A photo shoot in the...

How can I write a seduction/pick up scene, without it being cliched?

First loose all the parentheticals-- they're passive-aggressive directing. Second, Domino's Friend is never introduced as a character. There are other problems. The poor formatting must be corrected before you worry about the dialogue.

How to say that a character is moving closer to us/the viewer/the camera?

"Us" and "we" is weak but commonly done. If memory serves Tarintino does this "walks toward the camera" is better-- if you're a director reading someone else's stuff. Personally, I'd just write, JIM DIRECTLY APPROACHES, as an elemental shot. As long as it's clear in context it doesn't really...

    Posting Screenplays Online

Agents and such don't take unsolicited material mainly because it's a waste of time. Whose going to read all those thousands of scripts? And usually, they aren't up to quality, anyway. Most of the stuff that comes through Agents isn't up to par, either, and a lot of time and money is wasted...

    CBS Writer's Mentoring Program

While I have a little time, I'm going to put up other links. A lot of this stuff is oriented toward various minorities (for the record I'm a white guy), but I'll post it regardless of the criteria. Some may not actually be for Writer's. This one is a Diversity, Pro-Am situation...
