Getting Blue Yeti mic to work

Hi filmmakers. I'm reaching out because I'm preparing a Youtube movie review. To that end, I've bought a Blue Yeti mic. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work. When I connect it to computer, it picks up sound, but I can't hear anything. If any of you are Blue Yeti users and have experienced this problem yourself, any advice you can give would be very welcome.

Hi Nikephoros, congrats on getting started with your YouTube reviews!

It sounds like your issue is that the mic is picking up sound just fine (which is good!), but you're not hearing any playback. This is a pretty common hiccup for new users, and it usually comes down to how the computer is routing audio.

Here are a few things to check:
Check your output device
The Blue Yeti also acts as a headphone output, so your computer might be trying to send all sound through the Yeti instead of your speakers or regular headphones.

On Windows: Go to Sound Settings > Output, and either switch it back to your speakers or plug your headphones directly into the Yeti’s headphone jack. If you are using Mac, you will need to search for a method to do this :D

Plug headphones into the Yeti itself
If you're recording and want to monitor your audio, try plugging your headphones into the headphone jack on the bottom of the mic. You'll get real-time monitoring with no delay.

Check software settings
If you're using a recording app (like Audacity, OBS, or something else), make sure that the input is set to the Blue Yeti, and your output (monitoring) is either set to the Yeti or your preferred device. I am usually using OBS ( https://obsproject.com/ ) for video reviews (and live streaming).

Update drivers or firmware (if needed)
Most systems recognize the Blue Yeti automatically, but if it's acting strange, a quick update or restart can help.

Hope that gets you sorted! Let us know how your first review goes, I would love to check it out when it’s live.
