Are 25p and 30p shooting formats compatible?

unless you're planning on investing in a bunch of extras for your xl2 (lenses, etc.), go with the xha1. it has an amazing stock lens built into it, and if you really want to get professional, you can always get a 35 mm adapter for it and rent some 35 mm lenses to shoot with. i personally don't...

    Using Illegal Editing Software?

whenever people harp on others about using pirated software, I like to ask them if they've ever downloaded an mp3. usually then, they get all defensive and try to rationalize how stealing a song is different than a program. I first started with FCP on version 3. I was in high school and did...

    JVC H200 U

I haven't really heard anything about these cameras. I think I heard about them at NAB this year, but that's about it.

    Text Freeze Frame

you don't need to post in 2 threads and then create a 3rd for the same question obnoxious stuff like that makes people less willing to help you

Best way to cut video to music? video for school event

first, make sure the audio tracks are in wave view. whenever I've edited to music (non music video style because that's a whole other beast all together), I just use pretty much all overwrite edits to get a rough outline. then go back though and do rolls or razor blades to get it to sync...

    Tracking and copying handheld footage.

I think what he's saying isn't that he wants to stabilize footage, but to apply the same shaky movement from handheld clip to another one.

    importing dvsd files

personally, if I was going to be pulling it into another editing app, I would export it as uncompressed footage. If you compress it to .avi or .mpg or whatever, you're going to be encoding it again when you're done in FCP. I haven't used premiere in like 5 years, but I would imagine it's got an...

    Down Converting 1080/30p to 720/24pA

i don't know about downconverting, but if you want to change it from 30 to 24 fps, you're going to need a program/plugin like magic bullet.

Looking for DVD to WMV converter!

why do you want to convert to wmv? if you're using a mac, it would make more sense to use a native quicktime format.

    Tracking and copying handheld footage.

I do not yet have FCS2 so I won't be able to tell you exactly how, but I'm fairly certain it can be done with the tracker in Motion. I would imagine it would be as simple as tracking the shot, then applying that data to another one in the same project file.

    Footage of New York

well, it's not free, but it's about as cheap as you can get. I use revostock.com for stuff like this people post their own music and video clips for other people to buy and use royalty free. they have both SD and HD footage

GL2, Final Cut pro 3, Mac Book Pro

this may be a shot in the dark, but it might be because FCP 3 is not universal binary. it is made for macs with power pc processors. I mean, FCP 3 is so old, it was on OS 9.

Inserting Flash Video into a Website

I'm currently working on my personal website, and I've decided I want to use flash as the format for my video. I know how to upload videos to YouTube and then put them on a website, but I think that looks very tacky and unprofessional. Therefore, I'd like to host them myself. So basically my...

    Buying Final Cut Pro

i agree with ben. FCExpress is an often overlooked option. people that are first getting into it usually think they need FCP, but most of the time, they don't need the few extra things FCP has to offer. of course, you don't get soundtrack pro, motion, color, or DVD studio pro another issue is...
