it's not in terms of scratching the film really, it's just: hair=blocks light from reaching emulsion = entire time you have an obnoxious hair at the edge of your frame.
well it's a black and white film, and it's been roughly a decade since a new release of a much more refined emulsion of B&W Kodak negative stock (though Stranger Than Paradise looks like reversal), and either way they havent had many advancements in the B&W realm, so you're fine if you use...
